Airedales are like clones, every time I see one on the street, it's like I'm looking at Lulu. The reason for this is that they are all close relatives, they were breeded in the mid-19th Century, as a cross between the Black and Tan Terrier with the Otterhound, both breeds have amazing similarities with the Airedale.
Other breeds that are strickingly similar are the Welsh Terrier and the Lakeland Terrier.
I often hear from Airedale owners that once you got an Airedale, you'll never have other breed. At least for me, this is true, if I ever own a dog again I'll have an Airedale (although I like Beagles too).
People love dogs a lot, but Airedale owners are often a step beyond, they are obsessed with the breed.
Airedales likes fun, likes to play, likes to jump, likes to bite, and they never stop, so, be prepared to buy a dart gun ;)
They are amazingly intelligent, and they are smarter when they see you eating something delicious :), I remember that I taught Lulu to shake hands in just the second or third try.
